ANTI-CD3 (teplizumab) 

CD3 is a key signaling receptor associated with the T cell receptor complex. MacroGenics is developing a humanized anti-CD3 monoclonal antibody, teplizumab, for the treatment of autoimmune/inflammatory diseases. Previous human clinical testing showed promising results in a variety of clinical indications. Ongoing clinical development includes:

• Protégé Trial, a global, pivotal phase II/III trial in recent-onset type I diabetes,
• AbATE Trial, a NIAID-sponsored phase II trial in recent-onset type I diabetes coordinated by the Immune Tolerance Network (ITN),
• A NIDDK-sponsored phase II trial in new, but not recent-onset type 1 diabetes led by Dr. Kevan Herold of Yale University, and
• A NIDDK-sponsored phase II trial in islet transplantation led by Dr. Bernhard Hering of the University of Minnesota.
